The American actress and comedian Lisa Kudrow is best known for portraying the character Dr. Phoebe Buffay on Friends, which she played from 1994 to 2004. Kudrow has three brothers: Michael (born 1961), David (born 1964) and Gabriel (born 1966). She was raised in Los Angeles's San Fernando Valley. She attended Ulysses S. Grant High School and graduated in 1981. Kudrow received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Vassar College, intending to follow in her father's footsteps and work as a medical technologist. During her time at Vassar, she joined the theater group Middletown Thrillers ("Middies"), which did weekend shows at numerous schools and community theaters around the city, including Stony Brook University's Stony Brook Theatre.
